Turns out Phyllis has been using one (that's right, ONE) in the kitchen for a MONTH, just like it was a washcloth. Clean up the counter, rinse out the Best Wipe and dry it. Then . . . repeat, and repeat and repeat. The darn thing won't go away! It doesn't dissolve. (There's an Energizer Bunny in there, somewhere, I just know it . . . .)

We sent some home with Theresa. She used five of 'em to clean her oven, and didn't even use gloves. No, her skin wasn't burned off by the chemicals. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

These are NOT ordinary paper towels. Technically, they're called Barrier Wipes. Sandwiched between the two sheets of very tough (yet very soft) paper is a poly liner (plastic sheet, for us common folk).

Ya know those TV commercials where "Marge" runs her paper towel under a stream of water, and then places a bowling ball in the towel, and the towel doesn't fall apart? (OK, slight exaggeration.) Well, with Wipes, the water doesn't even make it through the towel! They hold the water AND the bowling ball (OK, OK, I'll stop the exaggerating).

These things are amazing. The inner plastic sheet doesn't let whatever-you're-wiping- up get to your hands. You can clean up grease, oil, paint, blood, baby " deposits" , puppy dog "love offerings" , Koolaid, you name it, without getting your hands greasy, smelly, dirty or discolored. (Wish I'd had these back during diapering days!) Cross-contamination of germs is greatly reduced, if not eliminated. They can even be used as a temporary emergency bandage!

Best Wipes come about 180 per roll. They can be torn off the roll like a typical paper towel, or pulled out from the center. (The roll is too large to fit in a standard, wall-mounted, paper towel holder.) They are only $10.00 per roll, plus shipping/handling (and tax in Texas). (Heck of a deal for a wipe that you can use in the kitchen for general cleanup for a month or longer. Saves you a lot of storage space over stashing hundreds of rolls of paper towels in preparation for tough times.) I did a price comparison against Handi-Wipes at our local Kroger store. You get 6 of 'em for a whopping $1.69 (28 cents each). Best Wipes are a far better deal . . . PLUS, Best Wipes hold water!
