Revised Nov. 17, 2009 Islam Review from The
Pen vs. The Sword
From mid- through late-September, 2001, because of the horrific attacks against the United States by "radical" Muslims (actually, true followers of the Koran, or Qur'an, which is one of the world's most violent books), I undertook a reading of the Koran online and copied and pasted relevant verses into a MSWord document which is published, below.
I believe the reason people (the media especially) claim that Islam is a "religion of peace" is because they've never tried reading the Koran. "Islam" translates "SUBMISSION", not "peace". You convert to, or submit to, Islam, or you die.
The Koran is very tedious and boring reading ... and I managed to struggle through just the first five chapters. The verses that follow are from those five chapters. (I'll work on posting more as time allows.)
Unlike Christianity, Islam was founded on violence and its "holy" book encourages, pro-motes and demands violence against--and murder of--non-believers. If we in the West do not awaken to this danger from "radical" Islam, it will mean our destruction, probably within the next 20 years. What Americans--and others in the West--MUST understand is that these suicide murderers are the faithful
Muslims . . . those who really believe and follow the teachings of the Koran.
Keep in mind, as you think about these things, that the average Muslim DOESN'T READ the Koran, just like the average Christian doesn't read the Bible. So, it truly is the faithful Muslim (who studies his Koran) that murders nonbelievers and wants to destroy the West.
Faithful, Koran-following Muslims might kill me for posting these verses (they're NOT believers in free speech at all) .... Nevertheless, JESUS is Lord, and the only One risen from the dead and ascended into heaven.
Remember, these verses are from their book:
KILL
UNBELIEVERS
[2.178] O you who believe! retaliation
is prescribed for you in the matter of the slain, the free for the free, and
the slave for the slave, and the female for the female, but if any remission is
made to any one by his (aggrieved) brother, then prosecution (for the bloodwit)
should be made according to usage, and payment should be made to him in a good
manner; this is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy; so whoever exceeds
the limit after this he shall have a painful chastisement.
[2.179] And there is life for you in
(the law of) retaliation, O men of understanding, that you may guard
yourselves.
[2.190] And fight in the way of Allah
with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does
not love those who exceed the limits.
[2.191] And kill them wherever you
find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution
is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque
until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such
is the recompense of the unbelievers.
[2.192] But if they desist, then
surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
[2.193] And fight with them until
there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist,
then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors.
[2.194] The Sacred month for the
sacred month and all sacred things are (under the law of) retaliation; whoever
then acts aggressively against you, inflict injury on him according to the
injury he has inflicted on you and be careful (of your duty) to Allah and know
that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).
[2.23] And if you are in doubt as to
that which We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and
call on your witnesses besides Allah if you are truthful.
[2.24] But if you do (it) not and
never shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of which men
and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers.
[3.151] We will cast terror into the
hearts of those who disbelieve, because they set up with Allah that for which
He has sent down no authority, and their abode is the fire, and evil is the
abode of the unjust.
[3.152] And certainly Allah made
good to you His promise when you slew them by His permission, until when you
became weak-hearted and disputed about the affair and disobeyed after He had
shown you that which you loved; of you were some who desired this world and of
you were some who desired the hereafter; then He turned you away from them that
He might try you; and He has certainly pardoned you, and Allah is Gracious to
the believers.
[4.88] What is the matter with you,
then, that you have become two parties about the hypocrites, while Allah has
made them return (to unbelief) for what they have earned? Do you wish to guide
him whom Allah has caused to err? And whomsoever Allah causes to err, you shall
by no means find a way for him.
[4.89] They desire that you should
disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike;
therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in
Allah's way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you
find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.
[4.91] You will find others who desire
that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as
they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore
if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain
their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against
these We have given.you a clear authority.
[5.33] The punishment of those who wage
war against Allah and His apostle and strive to make mischief in the land is
only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their
feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this
shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall
have a grievous chastisement,
[5.34] Except those who repent
before you have them in your power; so know that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
[8:12] I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off
every fingertip of them.
-----------------------------------
DEATH
FOR ALLAH IS GLORIOUS
[3.157] And if you are slain in the way
of Allah or you die, certainly forgiveness from Allah and mercy is better than
what they amass.
[3.158] And if indeed you die or you
are slain, certainly to Allah shall you be gathered together.
[3.168] Those who said of their brethren
whilst they (themselves) held back: Had they obeyed us, they would not have
been killed. Say: Then avert death from yourselves if you speak the truth.
[3.169] And reckon not those who are
killed in Allah's way as dead; nay, they are alive (and) are provided
sustenance from their Lord;
[3.170] Rejoicing in what Allah has
given them out of His grace and they rejoice for the sake of those who, (being
left) behind them, have not yet joined them, that they shall have no fear, nor
shall they grieve.
[3.171] They rejoice on account of
favor from Allah and (His) grace, and that Allah will not waste the reward of
the believers.
--------------------------------------
ISLAM
THE ONLY TRUE RELIGION
[3.19] Surely the (true) religion with
Allah is Islam, and those to whom the Book had been given did not show
opposition but after knowledge had come to them, out of envy among themselves;
and whoever disbelieves in the communications of Allah then surely Allah is
quick in reckoning.
[3.32] Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle;
but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.
[3.85] And whoever desires a religion
other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he
shall be one of the losers.
[4.82] Do they not then meditate on the
Quran? And if it were from any other than Allah, they would have found in it
many a discrepancy.
[4.105] Surely We have revealed the Book
to you with the truth that you may judge between people by means of that which
Allah has taught you; and be not an advocate on behalf of the treacherous.
[4.115] And whoever acts hostilely to
the Apostle after that guidance has become manifest to him, and follows other
than the way of the believers, We will turn him to that to which he has
(himself) turned and make him enter hell; and it is an evil resort.
[4.136] O you who believe! believe in
Allah and His Apostle and the Book which He has revealed to His Apostle and the
Book which He revealed before; and whoever disbelieves in Allah and His angels
and His apostles and the last day, he indeed strays off into a remote error.
[5.51] O you who believe! do not take
the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and
whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them;
surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.
--------------------------------------
DIVORCE
and MARRIAGE
[2.226] Those who swear that they will
not go in to their wives should wait four months; so if they go back, then
Allah is surely Forgiving, Merciful.
[2.227] And if they have resolved on
a divorce, then Allah is surely Hearing, Knowing.
[2.228] And the divorced women
should keep themselves in waiting for three courses; and it is not lawful for
them that they should conceal what Allah has created in their wombs, if they
believe in Allah and the last day; and their husbands have a better right to
take them back in the meanwhile if they wish for reconciliation; and they have
rights similar to those against them in a just manner, and the men are a degree
above them, and Allah is Mighty, Wise.
[2.229] Divorce may be (pronounced)
twice, then keep (them) in good fellowship or let (them) go with kindness; and
it is not lawful for you to take any part of what you have given them, unless
both fear that they cannot keep within the limits of Allah; then if you fear
that they cannot keep within the limits of Allah, there is no blame on them for
what she gives up to become free thereby. These are the limits of Allah, so do
not exceed them and whoever exceeds the limits of Allah these it is that are
the unjust.
[2.230] So if he divorces her she
shall not be lawful to him afterwards until she marries another husband; then
if he divorces her there is no blame on them both if they return to each other
(by marriage), if they think that they can keep within the limits of Allah, and
these are the limits of Allah which He makes clear for a people who know.
[2.231] And when you divorce women
and they reach their prescribed time, then either retain them in good
fellowship or set them free with liberality, and do not retain them for injury,
so that you exceed the limits, and whoever does this, he indeed is unjust to
his own soul; and do not take Allah's communications for a mockery, and
remember the favor of Allah upon you, and that which He has revealed to you of
the Book and the Wisdom, admonishing you thereby; and be careful (of your duty
to) Allah, and know that Allah is the Knower of all things.
[2.232] And when you have divorced
women and they have ended-- their term (of waiting), then do not prevent them
from marrying their husbands when they agree among themselves in a lawful
manner; with this is admonished he among you who believes in Allah and the last
day, this is more profitable and purer for you; and Allah knows while you do
not know.
[4.3] And if you fear that you cannot
act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you, two
and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between
them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more
proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.
[4.34] Men are the maintainers of women
because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out
of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen
as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion,
admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then
if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.
------------------------------------
JESUS
WAS NOT CRUCIFIED; HE WAS ONLY A MAN
[4.157] And their saying: Surely we have
killed the Messiah, Isa son of Marium, the apostle of Allah; and they did not
kill him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and
most surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no
knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him not
for sure.
[4.158] Nay! Allah took him up to
Himself; and Allah is Mighty, Wise.
[4.171] O followers of the Book! do not
exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but
(speak) the truth; the Messiah, Isa son of Marium is only an apostle of Allah
and His Word which He communicated to Marium and a spirit from Him; believe
therefore in Allah and His apostles, and say not, Three. Desist, it is better
for you; Allah is only one God; far be It from His glory that He should have a
son, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah
is sufficient for a Protector.
[5.75] The Messiah, son of Marium is but
an apostle; apostles before him have indeed passed away; and his mother was a
truthful woman; they both used to eat food. See how We make the communications
clear to them, then behold, how they are turned away.

DON'T
QUESTION THE KORAN
[5.101]
O you who believe! do not put questions about things which if declared to you
may trouble you, and if you question about them when the Quran is being
revealed, they shall be declared to you; Allah pardons this, and Allah is
Forgiving, Forbearing.
[5.102] A people before you indeed
asked such questions, and then became disbelievers on account of them.
