Economic Meltdown: Store Food and Gold

The financial institutions in the US are melting down, the latest being the failure of Washington Mutual (WAMU). The Feds will likely print more money to get us "out" of it. This will cause our dollars to be worth less, so everything you buy will cost more.  Now is a very wise time to buy gold and storable food. Get it before the price increases hit, because they will.

New Food Storage Calculator Added

We found a Food Storage Calculator on an LDS website and added it to our website.  It's designed to give you an idea of how much of various foods you need to store for a year's supply.  It's real easy to use!  Just enter the number of kids 0-6 years old, and the number of people 7 years old and up and--bingo!--it's done.  It's not perfect, but it's handy and interesting.  Click here to go see it.

Problems with our Shopping Cart

We've been having problems for the past 3 weeks with our web hosting company providing adequate speed/bandwidth for our Shopping Cart. We're now testing a new website provider for the next couple of weeks to get speed issues resolved.  If you're trying to use our cart, or trying to reach us, please call 903-356-6443 (9 am to 6 pm Central time) and we'll return your call if "call minutes" are an issue

Non-Hybrid Seeds are BACK!

From late 1998 through 1999 we were able to get a Non-Hybrid Seed Pack which allowed people to remain self-sufficient for food indefinitely after their stored dehydrated food supplies were used up.  Our supplier stopped supplying them ... until this week!  Here's your opportunity to end any food concerns.

Until this week, we got a price list from our dehydrated foods supplier that was good for a year.  They told us yesterday that they can no longer get guaranteed pricing for longer than THREE WEEKS.  (You can thank the government's meddling with our "new" alcohol-enhanced gasoline, and Muslim oil suppliers' gouging us, for food prices going completely out-of-control.)  When you order, there is a possibility that pricing will be too low.  We will email you your corrected total (if needed) for your approval before we place your order with our cannery.  Order NOW before it gets worse! Best Prices Moves Newsletter Subscription Page

For over a year we've been happily mailing out our monthly newsletter to about 3,900 of you ... and wondering why we were getting so few responses.  Last week, we found out!  Our server host only permitted 250 emails per day.  So, the first 250 people on our list were the only ones getting our newsletter each month!  Ugggghh!!  Well, we're in the process of moving to a server that will allow us to email 6,000 people per month, at one time, so you'll NOW start getting notice of our monthly specials. "Send This Page to a Friend" Links Fixed

In the (almost) 12 years we've been online, we've used various 3rd party services to let customers send our website link to their friends and associates.... and every one of them has gone out of business. I finally found a script that lets US have control over this feature, and tonight it's been uploaded to the bottom of all of our most-visited pages. Look for the link that says: Click here to send this page to a friend. (You can even use that link!) Not every page has had the correct link added yet, but the most-visited pages are done ... so, send away!

Price increases coming August 23 (industry-wide)

Fuel prices have finally caught up with food supplier contracts. Storable (dehydrated and freeze dried) food prices are going up in a major way effective August 23, 2007. In a HUGE promotional coup, Best Prices Storable Foods has made it (infamously) into Anthony Watts' blog, "Watts Up With That"!  (We're called a "crazy outfit," which should only confirm what most of you guys think of us anyway....) He gets his facts wrong (I never said the King of Tonga tried out our Make-A-Potty, only that he used a portable toilet), but, hey, publicity's publicity!  Check it out here. BPSF gets a NEW Shopping Cart

Today, Best Prices Storable Foods uploaded a NEW Shopping Cart that will figure shipping for your entire order without having to go to two different carts, regardless of the products you order.  There is one catch, however.

Shipping will be accurate as long as your order is UNDER 200 pounds. Once your order reaches 200 pounds, the cart will overcharge your shipping (because UPS does not calculate Hundredweight Rate--CWT-- online). We will recalculate your shipping and email you the correct shipping amount for your approval BEFORE your card is charged.

After three months' (more) work, the Shopping Cart has been uploaded. Let us know what you think!
